The Process

Marine detailing consists of various stages to enhance your boats appearance, starting with the wash procedure. Biff only uses high quality shampoos and cleaners to remove dirt, mould and yellowing. This is best for your boat and the environment.

Once the boat is cleaned and fully dried, GRP correction can take place to remove dull/faded GRP and bring the mirror finish back to your boat. This can be achieved by a single stage machine polish or a more in-depth multiple stage polishing process (a patch test will be required before quote is given to determine how many stages of machine polishing or sanding is required).

Once the GRP has been renovated it is we highly recommend that a sealant is applied for protection. As the sealant we use repels salt water and dirt it makes cleaning easier in future.

As we are a mobile operator we can come to your marina or you can bring your boat to our base at Falmouth Yacht Brokers where they offer a range or boat services form mechanical to antifouling.

Our Services

All prices are depended on boats condition and GRPs condition. A test panel will be required before written quotation is given.

Rejuvenation Detail

A Single Stage Machine Polishing then protected with A-Glaze Sealant

This detail is perfect for lightly dull faded Gel coats. A Rejuvenation Detail includes a full wash down and all metal polished. Recommended annually, to enhance the Gel coat to a high gloss finish. A-Glaze sealant is then applied for 12 – 18 months protection. Alternatively, spray wax for a short protection life would be recommended after the detail for boats that are getting ready for sale.

Advance Correction Detail

A 2 to 3 Stage Compound polishing then protected with A- Glaze sealant.

For a dull faded boat, a compound machine polish will be needed. This detail would be recommended for boats with dull or faded gelcoats. Removing the right amount of oxidisation to bring back the gloss, requires skill and experience. As removing too much gelcoat can result in patchy, weakened and thin areas. After a washdown and shampoo. The first polishing stage is a strong cut compound to eliminate surface defects. The second polishing stage uses a refining compound/polish, producing a mirror reflection finish. Metal polishing and glass polished included. Then A-Glaze sealant is applied for 12 – 18 months protection.
